Beethoven and Deep Purple
I knew I had mentioned Beethoven and Deep Purple in an entry here. Didn’t realize it was almost 4 years ago. WOW. Time’s fun when you’re having flies. Came across it on YouTube a few days ago. It's a medley of Beethoven's greatest hits. I have it on DVD. I generally don’t like posting them here because they become unavailable for any number of reasons but I really like this one so I made an exception. Most people know Deep Purple from Smoke on the Water, which is probably the most famous rock song of all time. They are phenomenal musicians. Seen here are Ritchie Blackmore on guitar, Roger Glover on bass, Ian Paice on drums, and Jon Lord on keyboards. Like all YouTube videos, it's best to pause for 30 seconds or so and let most of the video load before starting it. Doing so negates the normal blips of the internet. Best way to listen: LOUD.

And you know something?--There's nothing superficially wrong with a man who smells good.
NOTHING.

I enjoyed this. I know you're thinking there might be hope for me yet -- but probably not.
just stumbled upon the 2003 foosball site you posted--I read it like it was the most important document ever written, even greater than "the declaration". I downloaded a copy to send to Tess Shipley (Lott), to see if we can piece together the day we beat Salt n Pepper at the 76 Nationals in Dallas (?) love your site....
Lovely to see you again, Denice. Those were some fun times, weren't they?
DP were so ahead of their time. My personal fave is "Lazy."
I love the live version of Lazy on Made in Japan, Lana. I never saw these guys together. I saw Ritchie Blackmore and Rainbow in a concert with REO Speedwagon. Only in America would REO be the headliner and it took a bit of guts on REO's part. Not many people want to follow a band who is better than them. I also saw Deep Purple in Houston with the late Tommy Bolin on guitar, David Coverdale on vocals, and Glenn Hughes on bass. The show was only OK. Still have the T-shirt from that one: http://01f3666.netsolhost.com/roblog/2004/11/28/another_sunday.html
Judith Owen did a jazz cover of Smoke On The Water...its such a great tune and it crosses over the genres well
Smoke on the Water brings back such memories! I never had the pleasure of seeing DP in concert, unfortunately.
Pat Boone did it, too, Andrea. Surprisingly, amazingly, it wasn't all that bad.
I saw them but not this version of them, Charlotte. I would have given anything to be at one of the earlier concerts on this tour but not this show. There was a lot of tension between Blackmore, that very cantankerous guitar player, and the rest of the band and crew. It revealed itself throughout the night and I surely would be disappointed if I paid big money to see that.
ni friends! what blackmoore plays after thr ode to joy, i think is beethoven but i don't now what composition, i'm sorry, my english is not to good
